Yatta !!! Have you ever carried a melody in your head which you heard as a child? You’ve always longed to hear that lovely tune in it’s entirety but you have no idea who sang it. All you have are the fond memories attached to that melody which surprisingly stood the test of time. You can even hum it like it was only yesterday that you heard it. What if you, after more than a decade of wondering, were to suddenly hear that very song being sung by artistes you really admire?
Cut the story short, the recent live cover of True Love by my favorite duo, Jaejoong and Yoochun has left me totally shaken beyond words. I’m speechless right now. The wave of nostalgia is overwhelming. I think it was somewhere around 1993 or 1994 when they used to air this drama in some Chinese channel. I couldn’t be exactly sure cuz I was very young that time. Anyway, I remember watching it with my older siblings without the subs and they used to play this song in the drama. I used to love it. I was under the impression that it was a Chinese drama but turns out it’s Japanese. Well, I’m now old enough to distinguish the language

Anyway, today I was just watching JaeChun’s performances at Music Fair and then bam! they start singing ‘True Love’. I was dumbfounded. I was like, ‘omg! this song, this melody…it’s so familiar’ and then it hit me that it’s that very song I’ve been searching all these years. After almost 15 years, I’ve finally found it. Oh wow! What a nice present JaeChun got me. Sigh! Am really teary at the moment.
True Love was originally sung by Fujii Fumiya. It was the theme song for the drama Asunaro Hakusho aka Ordinary People. This is that same drama that I watched as a kid thinking it was Chinese . Like wow, it’s a pleasant surprise to see that Kimura Takuya was in it. I remember him playing that character with those glasses. He was my sister’s favorite.
Once again, I’m so mighty grateful to my favorite duo for helping me find the song. I so love Soulmate ! And what a lovely performance that was.

. Anyway, I think this single is massive. The title track totally won me over. A soothing mid-tempo ballad that’s easy on the ears, complimented by a sweet melody. I’ve already listened to it like, oh wait, I’ve lost count of the times. Oh yeah, I’ve listened that much and I still can’t stop. It’s stuck in my head. Been playing it over and over.
